TfL have announced MTR Laing, a joint venture between the operators of the Hong Kong metro system and of Chiltern Railways, as the concessionnaire for the London Overground operation taking over from Silverlink Metro in November.

Utilities diversions around Tottenham Court Road station have begun in preparation for the upgrade of the station, which is part of the Crossrail Bill currently in Parliament.

Mayor meets PM to talk Crossrail costs

Power switch on for Channel Tunnel Rail Link

Power has now been switched on for the second phase of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link between Ebbsfleet, Kent and St Pancras in London, ahead of a November start to passenger services. The switch on allows test trains to run and will prevent thieves stealing the wires - a significant problem last year when thousands of pounds of cabling was stolen at Ebbsfleet.

TfL has awarded the "main works" contract for the East London Line extensions north to Dalston and south to Crystal Palace and West Croydon to a consortium of Balfour Beatty and Carillion. The main works will commence later this year following completion of preparatory works along the northern route.
