West Croydon improvements
An additional entrance at West Croydon station could improve interchange to tram and bus services.
West Croydon station currently has its main entrance on London Road; however, tram and bus interchange is around the corner in Station Road. A second entrance could be opened on Station Road but this would require additional staffing costs and, due to the Disability Discrimination Act, would mean that step-free access would subsequently be required to the platforms.
The East London Line extension is due to arrive at West Croydon in 2010.
In the long term, a big office development has been proposed for West Croydon, straddling a two-level transport interchange with rail services in the "basement" and tram and bus services on the ground level of a series of high-rise buildings.
